Global smartphone manufacturers are currently racing to
develop artificial intelligence technology on their smartphone devices. If we
look earlier, Huawei developed the Kirin 970 chipset which is the first chip
with the NPU (neural processing unit) for tasks associated with AI (artificial
intelligence).

Not only Huawei, the latest generation iPhone also comes
with an Apple A11 Bionic chipset that has a neural engine for learning machine
tasks. Not wanting to miss, Samsung is also rumored to be working on a new
Exynos chipset that will catch up with them in the development of chipsets with
AI support.
According to the Korean Herald, they have sources from
Samsung partners who say if "Samsung is developing some kind of chip that
will be able to process large data from AI applications on the device, as well as
eliminating the need to communicate with the cloud server".
The advantage of having a special processing unit for AI
data processing is that the data used by the AI app does not need to be
stored in the cloud. They can be stored locally and accessed faster, with
performance improvements reaching 50% compared to conventional systems. Even
the NPUs in the latest Exynos chipset have a storage capacity equivalent to one
thousandth of the human brain.
It is expected that the new Exynos chipset that has NPU
support will be available for Samsung's flagship smartphone next year.
